In the new Blogger, you can now easily shorten your posts as you see fit and add the “read more” link without messing around with html. Move your cursor to the line you want to separate while typing your post and simply choose “Insert jump break” from the editor menu.

Remember that this function will only work in the compose mode, not under the html tab.
